Brushing up on Health Equity Impact Assessment basics? Take PHO's Online Course

Public Health Ontario has a free, five-module online course on HEIA. It begins by exploring key concepts related to equity and the social determinants of health. The course goes on to examine the HEIA tool in more detail and to provide you with opportunities to reflect on how you might apply it to your own practice. You will go through a series of guided steps to plan your own HEIA and begin to fill out the HEIA template.

Webinar - Work and Health: Using HEIA to analyze the implications of Bill 47

27 February, 12pm EST | Register here

Rebecca Cheff and Malaika Hill, researchers from Wellesley Institute, will share how the HEIA tool was used to identify potential health equity impacts of recent changes to workers’ protections in Ontario. This webinar will outline how a rapid desktop health equity analysis was conducted on the changes to Ontario’s Employment Standards Act introduced by the Making Ontario Open for Business Act (Bill 47). It will also discuss how results were disseminated using a report, blog, infographics and social media to highlight the potential harms to the health of workers and families.

Other HEIA Resources

We mentioned a few other HEIA resources from PHESC partners in our 7 December 2018 newsletter. See phesc.ca (scroll down a bit) to catch any newsletters you might have missed!
